How we protect your data
At Your Luggage, every employee is responsible for respecting and protecting the personal information to which the employee has access. Our privacy officer oversees our privacy practices and our efforts to follow all privacy laws that apply, and to manage and reduce privacy risk. To ensure the protection of your personal information, we maintain policies and practices that govern our privacy and personal information handling practices, including defining roles and responsibilities for handling your information from the moment we gather it until it is destroyed, regular employee privacy and security training, responding to privacy complaints or inquiries, and investigating potential incidents.
The security of your information is important to us. We have a team dedicated to protecting your information and have put in place physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards.
These measures include limiting access, using encryption, testing for vulnerabilities, advanced malware detection, employing pseudonymization and anonymisation techniques, and more.
Though we hate to say it, despite our efforts, we can't guarantee that user information will not be accessed, viewed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a breach of any of our safeguards. You provide us with information at your own risk.
How long we store your personal information
We retain personal information for as long as needed or permitted in context of the purpose for which it was collected and consistent with applicable law. In practice, that means different types of information are kept for different lengths of time:
- Your account and profile data is kept while your account is active, and deleted or irreversibly anonymised when you close it.
- Login sessions and security tokens (e.g. password reset codes) are kept only briefly after they expire or are used — typically a matter of days, and no more than about 90 days.
- If you use Premium web search, the search text you typed is deleted the moment your search finishes; the search record itself is deleted around 90 days later.
- General usage and analytics events are kept for a limited period, typically between 60 and 180 days depending on the type of event.
- Financial and billing records are kept for around 7 years to meet our financial record-keeping obligations.
- Saved products and measurement profiles are kept until you remove them yourself or uninstall the Extension — entirely under your control.
Beyond these periods, we may need to keep information for longer where we have a legal obligation to do so, or in connection with litigation, investigations, audit and compliance practices, or to protect against legal claims.
How we use cookies and similar technologies
Like most other online services, Your Luggage uses cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and other markers (we'll just call them "cookies") to collect some of the data discussed in this Privacy Statement. These help us operate our products, analyse engagement and usage, and provide a relevant and personalised shopping experience. See below to learn how you can manage your cookie preferences.
Some cookies can be temporary ("session cookies" like those used for navigating your browser) and disappear once you close it. Others last longer ("persistent cookies," like when you ask a site to remember your login) and are saved to your computer until you delete them.
Our uses of cookies and similar technologies fall into the following general categories:
- Essential: We may use cookies, web beacons, or other similar technologies that are necessary to the operation of our sites, services, applications, and tools. This includes technologies that allow you access to our sites, services, applications, and tools; that are required to identify irregular site behavior, prevent fraudulent activity and improve security; or that allow you to make use of our functions such as shopping-carts, saved search, or similar functions;
- Performance: on the Website, this is Google Analytics (GA4) — used only to understand how visitors use the Website (e.g. which pages are viewed), so we can improve it. Your IP address is anonymized before Google processes it, and we don't enable any advertising or cross-site tracking features. Google Analytics only runs if you accept this category in the cookie banner or your cookie preferences; it's off by default, and you can turn it off again at any time in the same place;
- Functionality: We may use cookies, web beacons, or other similar technologies that allow us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using our sites, services, applications, or tools. This may include identifying you when you sign into our sites or keeping track of your specified preferences, interests, or past items viewed so that we may enhance the presentation of content on our sites;
- Marketing: We may use first-party or third-party cookies and web beacons to deliver content, including ads relevant to your interests, on our sites or on third party sites. This includes using technologies to understand the usefulness to you of the advertisements and content that have been delivered to you, such as whether you have clicked on an advertisement.
Any personal information that we collect and store through use of these technologies for categories other than "Essential" are based on your settings, managed through a conspicuous disclosure on our Website. You can change your preferences in your account settings at any time. If you want to disable cookies entirely, your browser or mobile device might have an option to do that. For more information, including instructions on disabling cookies, please visit: https://allaboutcookies.org/

If you're located elsewhere in the EEA, you can instead complain to your own Member State's data protection authority.
Data Transfers from the EU
Your Luggage Ltd is established in the United Kingdom, so if you're located in the European Economic Area (EEA), your personal information is transferred to and processed by us in the UK. The European Commission has recognised the UK as providing an adequate level of data protection for personal information transferred from the EEA, so this transfer can happen without any additional safeguard being put in place.
Some of the organisations that provide services to us are located outside the UK, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we use a legally recognised transfer mechanism and any additional safeguards required under applicable data protection law.
We use the following providers:

Where Stripe cannot rely on that framework, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where required.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, for delivering push notifications. Firebase may process personal data outside the UK. We rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and other appropriate safeguards required under applicable law.

We rely on the appropriate transfer safeguards in our arrangements with SendGrid, which may include standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another legally recognised transfer mechanism.
